Nakki Lake Overview
Nakki Lake is the first man-made lake in India and the central attraction of Mount Abu. According to Hindu mythology, it was dug out by the Gods using their nails (Nakh), giving it the name 'Nakki'. The lake is surrounded by strange rock formations, lush greenery, and the bustling Nakki Market. It is a popular spot for boating, evening strolls, and photography. The lake also holds deep emotional significance as it is the place where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were partially immersed, leading to the construction of Gandhi Ghat nearby.
